A PROMISING FUTURE FOR THE AEROBIC GYMNASTICS IN ALGERIA

National Coaching Course in Aerobic Gymnastics, Algiers, 27-29 June 2008.

Organised by the Algerian Gymnastics Federation and directed by the AGF Technical Committee, the course had 34 coaches and 21 gymnasts participating. The guest lectors and coaches were John Atkinson (GBR), President of the FIG Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee and Mireille Ganzin (FRA), member of the FIG Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee.

Three very hard days of theory and practical lectures dealing with all aspects of preparing a competitive Aerobic Gymnastics routine culminated in a National Control Competition with all 21 demonstrators competing.

John Atkinson also had a meeting with Ali Zaater, President of the Algerian Gymnastics Federation about the future of this sports discipline which is rapidly and successfully growing in Algeria. He also met with Mohamed Yamani (UAG), President of WAG to discuss "Project Africa".

"I am looking forward to your present progress continuing through to the World Championships in 2010, more Algerian coaches participating in FIG Academies, and an Intercontinental Age Group competition being organised in Algeria in the near future" were the final remarks of John Atkinson to the course.
